The Great Cars Americans Don't Buy.

MOST UNDERRATED CARS OF 2021: TOP 3

----------------------------------------------------------------

HONDA INSIGHT LTE

You may not know this, but the Honda Insight, not the Toyota Prius, was the first hybrid car to be sold in the US. It overwent major changes since then, but it remains a revolutionary car in many ways. First off, it is the most gas-efficient car in the world, it has considerably more power than the Toyota Prius, and it's a good looking car. It seems that every hybrid that came before was a hot mess design-wise, from the Toyota Prius, Hyundai Kona, Toyota Avalon, etc. The Insight shares many things with the renowned Civic, which was a smart move by the folks at Honda. Honda was on point with this one. Nailed it!

Volkswagen Golf GTi

The VW Golf is not new to the game. It's been crushing it for decades, and this new version might just be the closest car to perfect on the road. It earned a rare 10/10 from Car&Driver magazine, and has been a frequent recipient of awards through every generation of the Golf. If I was to make a comparison, I would say it is a more understated version of the Honda Civic Type-R. Where the Honda has red racing seats, the VW has hand-stitched patterns in black leather. Where the Civic has a massive rear wing, the Golf has a understated silhouette with only a couple flashy instruments. However, at the end of the day, they both are the essence of affordable fun. Ditch the Mustang. The Golf provides an adrenaline rush when you feel like it, and a business-like reservedness when you aren't quite in the mood. Given all the VW Golf offers at only 36K, it is impossible to make a guess as of why they have such a hard time selling it. There's only so much I can type about the greatness of this car, only a test drive will do it justice.

TOYOTA 86

The Toyota 86 is one of the most honest cars you can buy. No "Smart suspension" or gizmos that keep you centered in the lane. You actually have to drive it. And wow, what an experience. Many auto critics have praised the "Unforgettable driving experience" and "The enjoyability that made me love cars in the first place" while declaring "Wow, how is this under 30K?". You know a car is good when car journalists actually buy that specific car. It must say a lot about the quality of this Toyota that 3 journos from Motor Trend magazine actually went out and bought this car. True sports cars are rare now, but the 86 is ringing the good times back. I advise you buy at least one gas-powered car you really enjoy before they are banned for ruining the air. I know that buying a sports car with a Toyota badge might seem strange, but wow! It's good.
