McLaren, Ferrari, Honda, Porsche, Lambo, What Is The Best Automaker Of All Time?

 CASE FOR MCLAREN:

CAR&DRIVER GAVE MCLAREN CARS A 2ND BEST 12 10/10 RATINGS.

GQ, C&D, MT, AUTO, AND R&T ALL HAVE PROCLAIMED THE MCLAREN F1 THE GREATEST CAR EVER BUILT

MCLARENS HAVE WON NUMEROUS DRIVERS CAR COMPETITIONS, SUCH AS MOTOR TREND'S BDC AND CAR&DRIVER'S PERFORMANCE COTY

CASE FOR FERRARI:

CAR&DRIVER GAVE FERRARI CARS AN ASTOUNDING 10 10/10 RATINGS.

MANY FERRARIS, SUCH AS THE LAFERRARI, 458 AND F40 HAVE BEEN DEEMED AS THE BEST SPORTS CARS OF THEIR GENERATION, AS SEEN IN THE 458'S MOTOR TREND BDC WIN.

FERRARI CARS ARE WIDELY REGARDED AS THE MOST DESIRABLE CARS IN THE WORLD (THOUGH I DISAGREE)

CASE FOR HONDA:

CAR&DRIVER GAVE HONDA CARS 5 10/10 RATINGS, WITH COUNTLESS 9/10 AND 9.5/10 RATINGS

THE HONDA CIVIC TYPE R, HONDA NSX, AND HONDA INTEGRA ARE ALL WIDELY CONSIDERED SOME OF THE BEST PERFORMANCE CARS OF ALL TIME.

THE CIVIC, ACCORD, AND CR-V ARE THE BEST CAR THE AVERAGE AMERICAN CAN BUY, AND THAT'S SAYING SOMETHING.

CASE FOR TESLA:

CAR&DRIVER GAVE TESLA 4 10/10 RATINGS, EVEN THOUGH TESLA HAS ONLY EVER MADE 5 CARS!

THE MODEL S IS A CAR BOUND TO COME UP IN THE "BEST CAR OF ALL TIME" DEBATE.

THE MODEL 3 IS HANDS-DOWN THE BEST ELECTRIC CAR YOU CAN BUY FOR UNDER $40k

CASE FOR LAMBORGHINI:
CAR&DRIVER GAVE LAMBO 4 10/10 RATINGS, WHILE MOTOR TREND AWARDED THE HURACAN THE BEST DRIVERS CAR AWARD TWICE IN THE LAST 4 YEARS!

THE AVENTADOR AND HURACAN ARE EASILY 2 OF THE BEST SPORTS CARS OF THE LAST 20 YEARS, WHILE THE URUS PAVES A WAY FOR PERFORMANCE SUVS.

CASE FOR CHEVROLET:
CHEVROLET ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR 2 OF THE ALL-TIME GREAT SPORTS CARS, THE CORVETTE AND CAMARO. CAR&DRIVER GAVE CHEVYS 8 10/10 RATINGS, WHILE MOTOR TREND NAMED THE CHEVY BOLT THE 2017 CAR OF THE YEAR. THE CORVETTE HAS WON DOZENS OF AWARDS OVER THE PAST 70 YEARS, AND IS AN AMERICAN ICON.

CASE FOR FORD:

FORD HAS EARNED 7 10/10 RATINGS FROM CAR&DRIVER, MAINLY FORM THEIR TERRIFIC MUSTANG, F-150, AND GT. THE MUSTANG IS A TRUE ICON IN AMERICAN CULTURE, AS IT PERFECTLY BLENDS STYLE AND PERFORMANCE

CASE FOR JEEP:
TBH, JEEP'S LINEUP IS PRETTY PATHETIC SAVE FOR THE WRANGLER, AS THE LIBERTY, PATRIOT, AND COMPASS ALL STOOPING AS LOW AS A 3/10 RATING. HOWEVER THE WRANGLER IS SO INCREDIBLY GOOD, AND WITH IT'S PICKUP TWIN, THE GLADIATOR, JEEP HAS EARNED 3 10/10 RATINGS FROM CAR&DRIVER.

CASE FOR PORSCHE:
CAR&DRIVER HANDED PORSCHE CARS AND SUVS A RECORD 18 (YES, 18!) 10/10 RATINGS. ONLY MCLAREN COMES REMOTELY CLOSE (THEY HAVE 12). THE 911 AND 718 CAYMAN GT4 ARE SO REMARKABLY GOOD SPORTS CARS, WHILE THE MACAN AND CAYENNE DOMINATE THE SEGEMENT THEY CREATED: PERFORMANCE SUVS.

SO, YOU MIGHT ASK: WHAT, IN FACT, IS THE BEST AUTOMAKER OF ALL TIME?
For me, it comes down to McLaren and Porsche. The thing is, Porsche is a much older, and therefore more experienced brand than McLaren. The iconic 911 has been crushing it since 1964. McLaren are much newer, making their first production car in 1992. However, although Porsche has earned 6 more 10/10 ratings from Car&Driver, that is not the end of the debate. Motor Trend and Top Gear hold incredibly high opinions of both, so that's not useful. One thing to consider is the variety of the lineups of McLaren and Porsche. The English automaker offers an array of phenomenal mid-engine sports cars, (Artura, 600lt, 570s, 650s), a ridiculously amazing supercar (720s), 5 glorious hypercars (Senna, 765LT, P1, Speedtail, F1), and a grand tourer (GT). Porsche, on the other hand, sells a whole host of 911s, (GT2 RS, GT3, Carrera, Carrera 4,  Speedster, Targa, Turbo), the super engaging 718, the wonderful 918 hybrid, a sports-wagon (Panamera), 2 world-class SUVs (Cayenne, Macan), and even an electric car, the Taycan.

I must stress, there is nothing impressive about a diverse lineup if the cars and SUVs that make it up are not up to standard. This is where the conversation takes a turn. McLaren have made nothing but outrageously good cars since they showed up in 1992. Porsche, on the other hand, have made at least 2 "duds". Those 2 are the Panamera and Cayenne. While they aren't bad cars, far from it, they have no place in such a magnificent brand's lineup. The Panamera tries hard to imitate the 911, but it has many faults. The Cayenne is simply not as good as competition (Jaguar F-Pace, Alfa-Romeo Stelvio, BMW X5, Land Rover Discovery). Let me make something clear: I'm being unfairly harsh. McLaren and Porsche are THE two best brands in history. I'll let you choose #1 and #2.
