BUYER'S GUIDE - Top 5 Mid-Size Crossovers

 #1 - honda cr-v

Although the competition is heating up, the Honda CR-V still does it better than any other mid-size crossover. Boasting best-in-class fuel economy numbers, and featuring the most impressive engine in the segment, Honda has understandably not messed with the 2017 formula, because, if it ain't broke,... Never mind, I'll spare you.

#2 - mazda cx-5

Unlike the Honda CR-V, which concentrates on practicality, the Mazda CX-5 is good at the things that you wouldn't expect a mid-size crossover to excel at. Beauty, for one. The CX-5 is the best looking SUV in class, and it's not even close. Also, the CX-5 has the best driving dynamics in class, tackling corners like a sports sedan. Very impressive stuff.

#3 - kia sorento
Following major successes such as the Telluride, Stinger, Soul, and Carnival, the all-new Sorento is the latest show-stopper to come from the Korean giant. Powered by a phenomenal 2.5L Inline 4-Cylinder engine that churns out an impressive 287 hp, the Kia Sorento is a very fun, powerful, and stylish option for those seeking a mid-size SUV that does seemingly everything right.

#4 - nissan rogue
Although the Nissan Rogue has been extremely disappointing over the last decade, the latest generation is thoroughly competent in every aspect, and is now just within reach of the top 3. Starting with the outside, Nissan tossed aside the anonymous design of its predecessor, replacing it with a sleek, feisty look. Inside too, the Rogue has a very premium-looking cabin, with world-class tech. The Nissan Rogue, for the first time in a while, should be taken seriously.

#5 - Hyundai tucson
Once you get past the controversial exterior design, you will find the new Hyundai Tucson to be a incredibly capable crossover. Especially in the excellent hybrid configuration, the attention to detail is clear throughout. The most obvious example of the workmanship is in the inside, where expensive-looking leather and faux wood make for a gorgeous cabin, while the center infotainment system is top-class. Even at #5, this list is really close, and somebody else might put it in the top 3. Point is, in a very competitive segment, if you get any of these 5, you'll be thoroughly satisfied.

Just missed the cut:
Toyota Rav-4 Hybrid
VW Tiguan
GMC Acadia
Toyota Venza
Chevrolet Blazer
Ford Edge
Buick Enclave
GMC Terrain
